Digestion experiments for pediatric age-groups have clinical and ethical drawbacks, therefore it is crucial to have an accurate in vitro tool, able to mimic the pediatric physiology.
TIM Studies accurately investigate drug formulation performance in simulated pediatric conditions and age-dependent digestion, after oral intake of (manipulated) dosages forms in combination with age-relevant foods.
Our protocols include different age groups:
- Neonates (0-1 month of age),
- Infants (1-6 months)
- Toddlers (6-24 months),
Our applications also include infant food product development. With TIM we investigate the digestibility of infant formula ingredients and better understand the bioaccessibility of different nutrients.
